CBD (Cannabidiol) was first discovered in 1940. It is one of 113 identified cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant and accounts for up to 40% of the whole plant’s extract. CBD is a naturally occurring substance that is now used in food supplements like oils and edibles plus other products such as skincare to impart a feeling of relaxation and calm. Unlike THC, (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) which is the major active ingredient in marijuana, CBD is not psychoactive. In 2018, clinical research on cannabidiol included preliminary studies of anxiety, cognition, movement disorders, and pain.
